This repository is the official draw.io Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration. It delivers two MCP server flavors: an app server (mcp-app-server) that renders diagrams inline in chat via a self-contained HTML viewer and runs on Node.js, Docker, or Cloudflare Workers, and a tool server (mcp-tool-server) published as @drawio/mcp that opens diagrams directly in the draw.io editor through a stdio MCP interface. Both servers expose tools such as create_diagram, search_shapes, open_drawio_xml, open_drawio_mermaid, and page-management operations. The core domain logic lives in a shared/ directory: headless mxGraph model parsing/serialization, XML normalization and repair, ELK layout passes, libavoid routing passes, label-perimeter adjustments, and shape/icon search. The repository also contains assistant plugins for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, and Cursor, plus project-instruction files for zero-install use. Although the project is primarily an application, it includes a data-driven shape-search index (~10,000 stencils) and a carefully curated XML/Mermaid reference corpus extracted from draw.io source code, giving it a mild hybrid character.
