SnapX is a cross-platform, open-source screenshot and screen recording utility, forked from ShareX. It provides a complete workflow: capture (region, window, fullscreen, monitor), apply image effects (filters, adjustments, drawings, manipulations), and upload to dozens of destinations (image hosts, file storage, text pastes, URL shorteners, custom endpoints). The application is built on .NET 10 with an Avalonia UI (GUI) and a separate CLI entry point, sharing a core library (SnapX.Core). Architecture is modular: the core contains platform abstractions for native APIs (Windows, Linux, macOS), an extensible uploader framework with base classes for file, image, text, URL shorteners, and sharing services, an image processing pipeline using SixLabors.ImageSharp, and a task manager that orchestrates capture, processing, and upload. Configuration is persisted in YAML with SQLite for history and schema migrations. The codebase demonstrates solid engineering with reusable components (custom uploader syntax parser, OS secret vault abstraction, name parser, progress reporting utilities), but retains several incomplete migration artifacts from the WinForms-era ShareX (notable NotImplementedException stubs, commented-out code, and platform-specific #if branches). The project is actively maintained with CI/CD for multiple platforms and packaging formats (Flatpak, Snap, AUR, RPM, MSIX).
