This repository implements a Vulkan layer, CLI tool, and Qt UI for real-time frame generation using compute shaders. The core mechanism intercepts Vulkan swapchain creation and presentation in any Vulkan application, then injects generated frames via a separate Vulkan device. Shaders are extracted at runtime from the proprietary Lossless Scaling DLL and patched for the target format and device capabilities. The project is composed of four main components: a backend library (lsfg-vk-backend) with SPIR-V extraction and shader chain execution; a Vulkan layer (lsfg-vk-layer) that hooks instance/device/swapchain creation; a CLI tool (lsfg-vk-cli) for headless benchmarking and validation; and a Qt6 Quick UI (lsfg-vk-ui) for graphical profile management. The common library provides reusable Vulkan wrappers (buffer, image, shader, fences, descriptors) and a TOML-based configuration system with hot-reload support. The architecture is modular but tightly coupled to the proprietary DLL and the Vulkan layer loading mechanism.
ProtonUp-Qt is a Linux desktop GUI built with PySide6/Qt6 for installing, updating, and removing Wine/Proton-based compatibility tools (GE-Proton, Proton-tkg, Wine builds, DXVK/VKD3D, SteamTinkerLaunch, Boxtron, Luxtorpeda, etc.) across Steam, Lutris, Heroic, Bottles, and custom launchers. Architecturally it is a client-side Qt application: the main window orchestrates background download/extraction jobs, a dynamic plugin loader (`ctloader.py`) discovers compatibility-tool modules under `resources/ctmods/`, and per-launcher adapters (`steamutil.py`, `lutrisutil.py`, `heroicutil.py`) read/write local game databases and config files. Release metadata is fetched from GitHub/GitLab/Codeberg REST APIs with rate-limit handling and optional user tokens. There is no server or data-processing component; external anti-cheat/compatibility datasets are only consumed to enrich the game-list dialog. The codebase demonstrates a credible plugin architecture, typed domain data in `datastructures.py`, and reusable network/download utilities. Maintenance is active, but the many tool-specific ctmods duplicate logic (fetch/install/extract), translations lag source strings, and the project depends on third-party release APIs and Steam's local formats, which makes some features inherently fragile.
SteamDepotDownloaderGUI is a Tauri v2 desktop application that provides a graphical interface for DepotDownloader, a CLI tool for downloading specific versions (manifests) of Steam games. The app allows users to input Steam credentials (or download anonymously), app/depot/manifest IDs, and an output directory. The Rust backend downloads the DepotDownloader binary from GitHub, extracts it, and spawns it as a child process via a pseudo-terminal (PTY), streaming output to an xterm.js terminal component in the Preact frontend. The frontend also includes a clipboard parser that extracts identifiers from SteamDB's copy format, auto-filling the form. The architecture is a standard monolithic desktop app with clear separation between Rust backend (Tauri commands) and Preact frontend, communicating via Tauri's invoke system. Settings for output directory naming and mobile authentication are managed through a context. The code is well-organized, with reusable input components and a clean PTY abstraction, though testing is minimal beyond a single URL validation test.
