Prow is a Kubernetes-native CI/CD system designed for automating pull request workflows, job execution, and merge management for open-source and internal projects. It integrates deeply with GitHub and Gerrit, providing a plugin-based automation engine that handles labeling, approval, testing, and reporting. The architecture is microservice-oriented with over 20 separate binaries (including hook, tide, deck, crier, ghproxy) that communicate via Kubernetes CRDs (ProwJob) and GCS/S3 object storage. Key capabilities include webhook event handling, merge automation via Tide, a flexible reporting system (Crier), a web dashboard (Deck) with artifact viewing (Spyglass), and numerous CLI tools for configuration and administration. The codebase is heavily tested with unit and integration tests, and uses generated clients/informers for Kubernetes API interaction.
