Lofi Engine is a desktop application for generating procedural lo-fi music and ambient soundscapes, built with Svelte 3, TypeScript, Vite, Tauri 2, and Tone.js. It runs fully offline and locally, providing a customizable focus/study atmosphere through an AutoDJ system that cycles chord progressions, drum patterns, and ambient effects (rain, thunder, campfire, jungle). A Pomodoro timer, task tracking, weekly stats, custom background uploads (stored in IndexedDB), and multi-language support (7 locales) complement the audio engine. The application is a monolith with a Tauri Rust backend handling window management and system tray integration, and a Svelte frontend composing the UI and audio logic. While the architecture is modular (engine, stores, components separated) and includes reusable utilities like a global tooltip and IndexedDB wrapper, the codebase suffers from no test coverage, some code smells (polling localStorage, misspelled constants, dead code), and drift between its README and actual implementation. It is not a hybrid data/research project; all data is generated or user-provided locally.
