Mimesis is a Python library for generating high-quality, locale-aware fake data, intended for use in testing, database seeding, API mocking, and data anonymization. Unlike simpler lorem-ipsum generators, it produces realistic names, addresses, dates, financial data, internet-related strings, and more, across 47 locale variants. The architecture is modular: locale-independent and locale-dependent providers (e.g., Person, Address, Internet) load curated JSON datasets, while a suite of schema tools (Field, Fieldset, Schema, SchemaBuilder) allows declarative generation of flat or relational synthetic datasets with lazy evaluation, dependency resolution, and export to CSV/JSON/pickle. A custom Random class with weighted selection and deterministic seeding ensures reproducibility, and optional plugins integrate with factory_boy and pytest-randomly. The codebase is well-structured, extensively typed (mypy strict), and thoroughly tested, with a strong emphasis on performance (~20-30x faster than comparable libraries like Faker). External runtime dependencies are minimal; the only optional ones are pytz and factory-boy.
OpenUBA is a full-stack User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) platform for security anomaly detection, investigation, and response. It provides a complete lifecycle for ML models (install, train, infer, version, share) via a pluggable registry supporting OpenUBA Hub, GitHub, HuggingFace, and local filesystem. The platform includes a rule engine with a visual DAG-based builder (ReactFlow), case management, real-time dashboards, multi-backend visualization (matplotlib, plotly, bokeh, etc.), and an LLM-powered assistant. The backend is built on FastAPI with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, JWT/RBAC authentication, and optional Spark/Elasticsearch integrations. The frontend uses Next.js 14 (App Router), Apollo Client (GraphQL), shadcn/ui, and Recharts. A Python SDK enables programmatic access to all features. The system runs on Kubernetes with a Kopf operator managing custom resources (UBATraining, UBAInference, UBAWorkspace, UBAPipeline) for containerized model execution in isolated Docker images per ML framework (sklearn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, NetworkX). While primarily an application, it includes research-oriented components like experiment tracking, feature store, and Jupyter notebook workspaces, making it a hybrid tool for both security operations and data science workflows.
This repository is a curated list of resources for practicing data science with Python, organized in the style of 'awesome' lists. It contains links to libraries, tutorials, blog posts, talks, code snippets, and other resources across various data science domains including core libraries, machine learning, NLP, computer vision, and more. The repository serves as a reference guide for data scientists and practitioners rather than containing executable code or performing data processing tasks.
This repository contains educational notes for the UCL MSc Computational Statistics and Machine Learning degree. It consists of lecture notes in PDF format for various modules (supervised learning, applied ML, advanced ML, probabilistic & unsupervised learning, statistical models, Bayesian stats, stochastic finance 1&2) and personal summary notes in Markdown and reStructuredText formats. The notes cover theoretical concepts in statistics, machine learning, and related mathematical topics but do not include any executable code, data, or reproducible analyses. The repository is purely a collection of reference materials, with the author describing the notes as 'messily hand written' and 'not perfect', and the summary marked as a work in progress.
