Bloopair is a Wii U homebrew project that patches the IOS operating system to enable unsupported Bluetooth controllers (DualShock 3/4, DualSense, Switch Pro, Xbox One). It consists of four major components: a kernel/IOS exploit loader (uses ROP chains to inject payloads), kernel and IOS module patches (modify the Bluetooth stack to recognize and handle foreign controllers), a userland C library (libbloopair) providing an IPC API to communicate with the patched IOS, and a companion GUI application (Koopair) for testing inputs, creating button/stick mappings, managing configurations, and pairing controllers. The system translates HID reports from non-official controllers into the Wii U Pro Controller format expected by the padscore driver. The codebase demonstrates deep reverse engineering of Bluetooth protocols and the Wii U's inner workings, but relies heavily on hardcoded memory addresses and exploits that are highly version-specific, leading to significant technical drift risk.
