VRM4U is an Unreal Engine plugin that imports VRM (Virtual Reality Model) files into UE4/UE5, supporting both VRM 0.x and VRM 1.0 specifications. It provides a complete pipeline from file parsing (via bundled Assimp and RapidJSON) to the creation of skeletal meshes, skeletons, physics assets, morph targets, materials (MToon, glTF, SSS, Unlit), animation sequences, poses, IK rigs, and retargeters. The plugin also includes runtime components for spring bone physics, VMC (Virtual Motion Capture) protocol reception, Sony Mocopi support, and a render subsystem for rim-light filters and scene capture. It is architecturally modular, with separate runtime, loader, importer, render, capture, and editor modules, and exposes extensive Blueprint-callable functions and Python automation scripts for editor workflows.
