Clapper is a modern media player for GNOME, built on GStreamer and GTK4 with libadwaita. The repository contains two reusable libraries: libclapper (playback engine with queue management, stream selection, adaptive bitrate, enhancer plugin system) and libclappergtk (GTK4 widgets like video display, seek bar, simple controls, title header). The desktop application (clapper-app) provides a full-featured player with preferences, queue, MPRIS support, remote control server, and extensibility via libpeas-based enhancers. The project also ships custom GStreamer elements (sink, extractable source, playlist demuxer) for deep integration. The architecture is modular with a threaded object base class, bus-based inter-thread communication, and a binary cache system. Although some legacy features (server, MPRIS) are deprecated in favor of enhancer plugins, the core libraries are actively developed and well-documented. This is purely an application/library project with no data/research focus.
