Yaxim is an Android-based XMPP/Jabber instant messaging client. It maintains a persistent XMPP connection via a background service (XMPPService) using the Smack library, with UI components binding to the service for message exchange and roster management. The app features multiple product flavors (main, branded, F-Droid, Google Play variants) and supports core XMPP extensions including MAM, Carbons, and Message Archiving. Data persistence is handled through SQLite ContentProviders for chat history and roster management. The application demonstrates a clean separation of concerns between networking, data storage, and UI layers, though it shows signs of technical drift due to reliance on deprecated Android Support Libraries and outdated APIs like Android Beam.
