Nimbalyst is a cross-platform visual workspace for coding agents, combining AI agent sessions, real-time collaborative document editing, and a tracker/issue management system into a single desktop-first application. The monorepo spans an Electron desktop app (macOS/Windows/Linux), native iOS and Android companions, a CLI tool, a headless Node server, and a web wiki surface. The architecture follows a main/renderer process split on desktop, with the main process hosting services (AI providers, sync, database, file watching, extensions) and the renderer running a React UI with Jotai atoms for state management. Mobile apps mirror core functionality using platform-native UIs (SwiftUI, Kotlin/Compose) and share a common sync protocol. The system integrates deeply with multiple AI providers (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Gemini, Grok, LM Studio) via streaming SSE sessions, MCP tool servers, and a permission system. Documents are edited using Meta's Lexical framework with Yjs-based CRDT synchronization for real-time collaboration. The tracker system provides schema-defined issue types, kanban/board/grid views, and ontology management. An extension SDK allows third-party editors, panels, and AI tools, with several built-in extensions (CSV spreadsheet, Excalidraw, math, git, memory, project graph). External dependencies include Electron, React 19, Lexical, Yjs, Jotai, SQLite/PGLite, PostHog for analytics, and a separate Cloudflare Workers sync server for team collaboration.
